Neil Dawson Global Creative Director DDB Worldwide

Neil is Global Creative Director of the Philips account. It’s a cool job: it has him based in DDB London, but lets him work with DDB offices all over the world.

Neil began his career at Leo Burnett in London, the surprised but smiling winner of a Young Copywriters Competition. After 8 years in the basement, he packed his bags and together with his long-time copywriting partner, set out for South Africa, arriving just in time to witness the country’s first free elections.

Most recently he has launched the world’s first cinema proportioned television – Cinema 21:9 ‘Carousel’ the interactive film for this campaign recently won the Grand Prix at Cannes.  This can be viewed at www.cinema.philips.com

As part of his travels, Neil can often be found on many of world’s ad juries judging Cannes, Clio, D&AD, Adfest, Kancils, Campaign Press and Poster and the SA Eagles (He’s had the good fortune to win awards at all of them.)

A keen photographer, Neil is also a keen (but less than average) golfer and a keen (nay, ardent) supporter of England Rugby. One of his most prized possessions is a signed copy of Nelson Mandela’s autobiography. He was educated at Bedford School and Salisbury College of Art. He’s married to Helen with two children, Billy and Hannah.
